Small Magpie moth (Eurrhypara hortulata)

Finally a visitor... two months after spotting a few moths during the March heatwave. The silhouette of this Pyralid Superfamily moth has a protuding abdomen and head as well as the distinctive snout nose of the Crambidae Family. The orange tip of the abdomen and head are immediately evident and there is orange and black striping of the midsection of the abdomen. It is an aesthetically pleasing moth with its balanced sparing black and white contrast and splashes of orange.
